Live Review: Eckhaus Latta S/S 24

published on 10 September 2023

Live from New York, editor Hetty Mahlich reviews the Eckhaus Latta S/S 24 collection.

Recalibration seems to be a key theme throughout the New York S/S 24 shows so far and the latest to hark on this trend are the NY design duo Mika Eckhaus and Zoe Latta of Eckhaus Latta.

Like Proenza Schouler, the brand's vision was crystal clear, with critics having an easy time imagining the runway clothes adapted for the street. Unlike Proenza Schouler, the brand went for a darker aesthetic, translated most obviously in the set design which was a more 'orange, darker space', accommodating models sent down an escalator (think Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton S/S 13 but less static). Flats were also nowhere to be seen, effortlessly replaced by clogs that were paired with Y2K-silhouette pants and silver patina denim. 'This was New York's answer to KNWLS', affirms Mahlich, loud and clear.
